About Rachel Hammond and edge
Rachel began growing at a young age, learning from her grandparents as a child. Although she grew up locally in Lambourn, she was living in Todmorden when the Incredible Edible movement started. Whilst living in Oxford, she set up Incredible Edible Oxford to grow food in public spaces across the city. Incredible Edible Oxford evolved into the social enterprise ‘edge’ five years ago in response to the growing demand for learning and design of food spaces. Rachel is a qualified Urban Designer and a Landscape Architect; she is passionate about good quality food produced without damaging soil or biodiversity. edge works with a number of market gardens across the country and there are many opportunities to create an income as a producer.
